Our People

M.W.S (Taj) Jilani (FCA,CPA, FBIM)

Managing Partner

As the firm’s Managing Partner, Taj has over 30 years experience as a qualified Chartered Accountant and brings a wealth of commercial, industrial and managerial experience gained across industries with clients of all sizes in the UK, Europe and internationally.

Having worked with Deloitte and Haskins & Sells, Taj was instrumental in advising numerous national and international organisations regarding corporate affairs and finance.

Over the years, Taj has forged strong, responsive relationships with key City institutions, banks and financial institutions in the UK, and with major Saudi and international banks particularly OBU’s based in Bahrain.

Of note, Taj was responsible for successfully growing an investment portfolio under his management from £10M to £50M, and he has been directly involved in establishing a bank in Luxembourg, and INVESTCORP in Bahrain. He subsequently had considerable involvement in the construction of the ARAMCO refineries in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia in collaboration DAEWOO and GE (USA).

Nesar Ali (ACCA, ACIS, MA)

Audit Manager

Nesar is a member of numerous professional bodies and holds a Masters Award in Accounting & Finance from Kingston University.

He previously worked at Procter & Gamble, and brings to the firm considerable experience in business and commercial transactions.

Nesar has aided many client organisations in preparing comprehensive business plans and financial forecasts. Internally, he is known for his meticulous approach to due diligence and business analysis, understanding the competitive climate and business environment to identify potential opportunities and mitigating threats.

As a member of the Chartered Governance Institute Nesar can form a company, deal with share transactions and conduct formal company meetings. He is acutely aware of the importance of a Good Governance System and has extensive knowledge of both internal and external audits.

Barbara Muszel

Department Head - VAT

Barbara heads up the VAT department at Pearlman Rose. She has extensive knowledge and experience in dealing with VAT matters for numerous businesses, ranging from sole traders to large corporate businesses.

Barbara is exceptionally diligent is preparing, validating and submitting VAT returns on behalf of clients and is spearheading an internal digital transformation programme ensuring compliance with the Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements of HMRC.

M. Hanif Anwar (FCCA)

Practice Manager

As Practice Manager for Pearlman Rose, Hanif oversees the day-to-day running of the business and is key to client engagement.

Hanif qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1992 and is now a Fellow of the Association. He brings over 20 years experience, specialising in audit, accountancy and taxation for small and medium sized businesses (SME’s).

Hanif regularly advises clients with specific tax issues and is known for his innovative approach to complex problem-solving.

Afzal Nurmahomed (ACCA)

Assistant Manager

Afzal is a Chartered Certified Accountant with over 20 years of proven experience in accountancy. He leads the business assurance team, ensuring clients are kept up to date and informed of the changing legislative landscape in relation to VAT and PAYE.

Afzal has a keen grasp of the numbers and enjoys preparing financial projections and management accounts ahead of client engagements. With his extensive experience in accountancy, he is ideally positioned within the practice to advise clients on statutory accounts and auditing processes.

M. Altaf Jilani (BA, MSc)

Growth Strategy & Business Development

Altaf is responsible for Business development and growth at Pearlman Rose. With a background in project management and marketing, he oversees the management of client accounts, business development, and marketing activities.

With a strong focus on retention and performance, Altaf works to ensure clients are professionally serviced, managed, and valued.

His remit includes market feasibility, analysis and development, tactical marketing and collateral, corporate identity and values, strategic goals, online and offline presence, and showcasing the firm to clients and prospects.

Klaudia Koscinska

Audit & accounts - Assistant

Klaudia joined Pearlman Rose as Accounts Assistant after earning her degree in Accounting & Finance. She works closely with the Audit & Accounts team, supporting them with their day-to-day requirements.

Her primary remit includes bookkeeping, company incorporations, document submission, managing and maintaining information at Companies House, and ensuring effective correspondence with HMRC.

Klaudia is also responsible for managing administration at Pearlman Rose and ensures back office operations are well organised and run efficiently.
